Novak Djokovic and the Australian Open Heist

The Covid-19 virus does not discriminate. I wish the same could be said for the Australian Open.

In one of the most appalling and cringeworthy decisions the Australian Open granted a medical exemption to Novak Djokovic to play the tournament. 


The rules state, that to play in the Open a player must either be fully vaccinated or receive a medical exemption. 

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has guidelines on why a medical exemption should be given. Those with acute medical conditions, including undergoing a major surgery, those who have had Covid in the past 6 months, or have had a serious adverse event attributed to a previous vaccine dose, could receive an exemption. 

The chief of Tennis Australia Craig Tiley, said, the exemption given was the same as any other player could have received. Novak's application of course is not disclosed and so we are not sure why he qualified. 

I am happy to be proved wrong, but I am not buying that he qualifies in any of the criteria.  

Since the vaccine has been developed Novak has behaved like the millions of moronic anti-vaccinators. While he doesn't confirm or deny whether he has taken the vaccine he believes that no one has the right to ask him whether he has taken it. 

Has he been asleep for the past year? The entire world is asking for vaccine certificates. To get on a flight, enter another country or even go to a restaurant or mall. Everyone has accepted this as the new normal but he doesn't want to. 

After 9/11 security protocols changed at airports. There were additional screening procedures and we just accepted it has part of the world reality. Currently, these changes are being implemented because of Covid. 

I guess the great Novak and his army of 'privacy' dimwits feel that no one should ask them about the vaccine. 

I am going to go out a limb here and tell you what I think happened. I have no evidence, but here is my assumption. 

The Australian Open wanted Novak to break the tie of Twenty Grand Slams Wins in Melbourne. To make the tournament a success we need the world # 1 in the draw, so let's figure out a way to allow him to enter. 

Enter- Medical Exemption with a form that is undisclosed. 

Australia has had some of the strictest lockdowns and restrictions during the past two years and just when Omicron hits they allow the Australian Open and Novak Djokovic to pull off a heist like this. Appalling and Shameful.

Novak should have been told he cannot play.

Meera Sanyal- Clueless

While I do admire that Mrs. Meera Sanyal took it upon herself to be an instrument of change, I just wish the instrument was better tuned before it began playing in the orchestra. When it comes to representing south Mumbai and being a member of parliament, I am afraid Meera Sanyal is in unfamiliar waters and it is clear that she has no idea what she is doing. I had the opportunity to hear Mrs. Meera Sanyal, Mr. Milind Deora (Congress), Mr. Mohan Rawale (Shiv Sena), Dr. Mona Shah (Professionals Party of India) and Mr. Bala Nandgaonkar (MNS) speak at an event organized at Altamount Road in South Mumbai this evening. It was a great platform for voters to meet their candidates and get to know what they are all about. I was most curious to see what Meera Sanyal was like. Much has been said about this lady and she seems to be gathering support in some circles. Shahrukh Khan and Security

I feel bad for Shahrukh Khan. I really do. When I get a off a flight all I want to do is just get the hell out of the airport. To be detained for two hours, questioned and not allowed to make a phone call, it must be painful. But at the same time I have to say that in the terror filled world that we live in, sometimes, each and every one of us has to go through this. Even beloved Bollywood superstars. I don't have an issue with SRK's anger, I would be fuming too. I don't have an issue with the media coverage of the event. SRK is a huge celebrity and press coverage was expected. The area that I have an issue with is when people say what happened to SRK was wrong.
