Random Thoughts 5- The slapping MP one

Random thoughts with no real focus, the slapping member of Parliament, Saina, ODI's, Indian Boxers, World Series of Poker. 

Don't know how many of you caught the news of the member of parliament Manda Jagannadham slapping a bank manager. Check out the video here and you will die laughing. The best part is our dear MP's statement. He said, if it is proved that he manhandled the bank manager then he will apologize. Err....proved?? He claims he was trying to put his hand on the bank managers shoulder and by mistake he touched the manager's cheek. I wish you could see me right now because I am holding my stomach in pain with laughter, if you saw the video you would know why. What an excuse, this guy is a legend. 

A few other notes.

Saina- A little late write up from my end but how about Saina Nehwal winning the Indonesian Open. This girl is going from strength to strength. Yet, Sania Mirza gets more coverage when she reaches the second round of tournaments. Sorry but I will continue to bitch about this.

ODI's- I said this when T20 came out that one day cricket is going to die a slow death. I think the death might be faster than we thought. Test cricket can't die, and frankly it shouldn't because it is the best form of the game. But 8 hours for an ODI vs 3 hours for a T20. I give the game 10 years at most. How boring are the India-WI matches?

Indian Boxing- The Indian Boxers are doing great (Told you I would write about little known Indian athletes). We took home 1 gold, 2 silvers and 4 bronze at the Asian Boxing Championships. Well done Suranjoy Singh, Nanao Singh and Jai Bhagwan. You know before the 2008 Olympics the Indian Boxing Federation did not have enough money to buy equipment. These guys were training with sub standard equipment, lack of proper facilities etc. Makes you wonder about how blessed our national cricket team is and yet how much attitude they have.

Coming up events

Wimbledon- Hope Roger gets his 15th. Murray looking good, could be a good match if they meet. Another interesting fact- 2006 is the only year this decade in which the women's final did not feature one of the Williams sisters. 

The Ashes- Starts next week. I want the Aussies to win 5-0. Yes, you can trash me if you hate what i just wrote

WSOP- The World Series of Poker Main Event begins on July 3rd. It is actually one of the most exciting sporting events. I say this because it is the only sporting event in the world, that I can think of, that anyone can enter. All you need to do is float the $10,000 buy in. Don't know of too many other major sporting events where you can do that. The only thing that sucks is that they play up to July 15th, till the final table is determined, and then the final table only begins in November. Seems silly to me. 

Anyway, speaking of poker, if you are a fan, get on twitter and follow Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth, very entertaining.
